About Will Ord
Will Ord has working experience of education in many contexts. In schools, he has been a Head of RE, Deputy Head of Sixth Form and a School Governor. As Chairman of the educational charity SAPERE from 2003 – 2006, and as Professional Officer for ACT (the Citizenship Education subject association) from 2002 -2004, Will gained invaluable experience working with the DfES, the QCA, LAs, Ofsted, AREIAC, the Citizenship Foundation, as well as many primary & secondary schools.
During the last 6 years, Will has also been an author of several text books for students and teachers, articles for magazines and journals, and was a regular writer for the TES. He is presently an Associate Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University, and an independent Education Trainer and keynote speaker.
Will has trained teachers all over the UK and abroad, including work in India, Bahrain, Colombia, Mexico, China, America, Ghana, and Sri Lanka. The most common focus for this training has been to help teachers develop the thinking, communication, emotional and social skills of their pupils. These skills lie at the heart of enduring and meaningful education, and raise the motivation and achievements of both teachers and pupils alike.
Life high point (and name drop): Interviewing the Dalai Lama in the Himalayas during a research project into Tibetan reincarnation.
Life low point: Having chronic diarrhoea, a badly sprained ankle and a squat-hole for a toilet 60 yards up a mountain path. For 3 weeks.
